ABOUT TAOS YOUTH MUSIC SCHOOL

Founded in 1999 Taos Youth Music School began with 14 students and 2 instructors. TYMS currently serves 75-100 students from Taos County and surrounding areas with a staff of 6. As our school grows, so does our commitment to providing you and your child with the best quality music education available in a caring and secure environment.

We seek to nurture in Taos County youth a lifelong love of music and the opportunity to be empowered musically and socially through the art of musical activities.Taos Youth music school is a free after-school music education and performance program for Taos County youth from all ethnic, religious, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Efforts to affirm all students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds are reflected in our school environment. At Taos Youth Music School Students and teachers collaborate on the skills to be learned. We lead students into musical learning by listening to our youth.

Though TYMS is a free program, we expect a commitment of attendance and time from students and parents.
We value parent participation. We recognize our parents are multi-talented and we appreciate all contributions of time, talent, and money.

Volunteers are needed for committee work, marketing, fundraising, snack-making and in the classroom.
