Free Hand Drum Workshop with Sam Burke-Favero – March 28 at TYMS

The Taos Youth Music School (TYMS) is excited to host a free Hand Drum Workshop for children on Saturday, March 28 at 10:30 AM. This special event will be led by percussionist and educator Sam Burke-Favero, and no prior musical experience is required.

Participants will be introduced to the joy of traditional group drumming in an ensemble setting; a musical experience that emphasizes listening, rhythm, cooperation, and collective creativity. TYMS will provide drums for everyone, so all you need to bring is curiosity and a willingness to participate.

    What to Expect

This workshop is designed as an introduction to traditional group drumming. Participants will explore rhythm together in a supportive, collaborative environment. Through simple patterns and call-and-response exercises, students will experience how individual rhythms combine to create powerful collective music.

Group drumming is not only fun, it also encourages teamwork, confidence, and listening skills, making it a wonderful musical entry point for young musicians and families alike.
